Southeast Tibet's Nyingchi Prefecture has released 1.03-million-yuan medical subsidy for serious disease treatments to local farmers and herders before the upcoming Tibetan New Year.
Jang Tsering from Zhangmai, Bayi Town in Nyingchi Prefecture was very excited when he received 3,815 yuan medical subsidy. Tsering's elder daughter from Zhangmai, Bayi Town in Nyingchi Prefecture stayed in hospital for over 20 days and 7,000 yuan was spent on treating the broke arm last year.
Tsering said: "I didn't expect to get so much money. Thanks to the Party and the government, now I can pay off the debts."
The government will strengthen construction of county and township hospitals during the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015) so that rural people will benefit more from medial subsidies.
The medical subsidy system for serious disease treatment now covers all rural people in Nyingchi, benefiting over 16,000 local farmers and herders.
