Flashing lights sparkles every night in the Tibetan Art Center where the grand Tibetan opera named "Happiness on the road" is put on the stage. The glamorous theater, fascinating viewsand, outstanding performance all impress tourists from home and abroad. "It is really an intoxicating experience for us to enjoy such a wonderful performance in the evening after visiting the magnificent Potala Palace," said Jia Mingquan, a tourist from Shi Jiazhuang, capital city of north China’s Hebei Province.
In recent years, the traditional Tibetan opera, such as "Happiness on the road" and "The Himalaya" has become more popular as an increasing numbers of tourists from inland China and abroad flocking to Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).
"The performance, which covers almost every aspect of Tibetan people’s life, presents the indigenous Tibetan opera for audience through traditional instruments like eagle flute, terz guitar, Repa and tap dancingas well as bull boat," said Zhang Junye, manager of the performance "Happiness on the road". "People can have a glimpse of Tibetan people’s life such as working, wedding and praying."
Frankli Arbin, a 73-year-old tourist from France, watched the performance with his partner recommended by his tour guide exclaiming, "It was very impressive!" The performance aroused his interest in Tibetan culture, so he decided to read some books about Tibet and also introduce it to his friends when he went back home.
The performance "Happiness on the road" was staged every two days in TAR last year, while it has to change into daily show this year for the increasing demand of tourists.
A lot of people expressed their feelings after the performance, writing that Tibetan culture has achieved tremendous progress, and they hope that they can watch more performance of this kind to better understand the ancient culture of Tibet.
