The sixth Dezhub Living Buddha, or the reincarnation of the 5th Dezhub Living Buddha, was selected Sunday morning at the Jokhang Temple of Lhasa, capital city of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR), following a lot-drawing ceremony.
After lot-drawing from a gold urn, Losang Dorj from the Lhongzi County of Lhoka Prefecture in southern TAR was chosen as the living Buddha out of two candidates. He will succeed as the 6th Dezhub Living Buddha after being approved by the government of TAR.
The ceremony was held strictly in accordance with the religious practices and historical conventions of the Tibetan Buddhism and the Regulation on Reincarnation of Living Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism issued by the State Administration for Religious Affairs.
