The Communist Youth League of China has raised 81.31 million yuan (11.9 million U.S. dollars) for quake-hit Yushu in northwest China's Qinghai Province.

The Youth League has also organized relief supplies worth 69.82 million yuan and 44,600 tons of drinking water.

After the quake hit Yushu on April 14, Youth League organizations in Sichuan, Guangdong, Beijing, Tianjin and Chongqing dispatched 23 teams to the quake zone to provide medical aid and psychological counselling.

Over 3,800 youth league volunteers have served in the quake zone, including 800-plus local youth league members from Yushu who provided Tibetan-Mandarin translation for the relief teams and the local people.

Statistics from the Ministry of Civil Affairs show 3.89-billion-yuan in funds and supplies have been donated as of midday Friday, of which 593 million yuan has been delivered to the quake zone.

According to measures on managing and supervising relief funds for Yushu quake drafted by the Earthquake Relief Headquarters, the funds will be mainly used for reconstruction of schools, hospitals, public service organizations and farmers' and herdsmen's housing.

Meanwhile, funds for specific purposes will be used in accordance with donors' instructions, the measures said.

At least 2,200 people died and more than 100,000 were left homeless when the 7.1-magnitude earthquake rocked Yushu Prefecture April 14.
