73 cultural relics sites discovered in Lhasa's Quxu

A total of 73 cultural relics sites were discovered in Quxu County, Lhasa, during the 3rd national general survey of cultural relics, according to Tibet Business.

Of these sites, ten were designated as the county's first group of key cultural relics under protection. Included are the ruins of the Semaizong Mansion and Benzhong tombs.

The survey began in April, 2007 and will end in December, 2011.

In recent years, China's Central Government has stepped up its protection of cultural relics in Tibet, which completed in August the renovation of three key cultural relics, i.e., the Potala Palace, Norbu Lingka and the Sagya Monastery.

In the meantime, the Central Government will spend another 570 million yuan (about 83.4 million U.S. dollars) during China's 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010) renovating 22 cultural relics in the region.
