A snow leopard, a kind of endangered animal mainly distributed in the mountain ranges of Central Asia, was currently found in south grassland of Palongcuo Lake in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China.
Sources from the Cold and Arid Regions Environment and Engineering Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, they came across a wild snow leopard in the Palongcuo Lake with an altitude of 5,100 meters, when deploying investigation into the glacier and frozen earth in Kangdese Shan Area.
According to Dr. Xie Changwei, who is responsible for the investigation, they took more than 30 photos and a one-minute video of the snow leopard.
The snow leopard, or known as the ounce, is a native to the highland of Central Asia with only a total of 3,000 found all over the world. Within China, it can only be seen in the Tibet Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, as valuable as the south China tiger.
A constant amount of snow leopards live within the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, but it is the first time for China to capture its photos in the mountain range of Kangdese Shan.
