Tsongkapa Butter Lamp Festival on October 25 on Tibetan calendar marks the nirvana day of master Tsongkhapa, founder of the Gelug Sect of the Tibetan Buddhism. Tibetan pilgrims light up butter lamps and have Tibetan flour conjee meal at night to commemorate this great master.

Thousands of Tibetan pilgrims celebrate the festival on December 1 in Lhasa, capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region.
