On the grassland of north Tibet, herdsmen from across Nagqu Prefecture celebrated their most important traditional festival titled Changtang (North Tibet) Qachen Horse Racing Art Festival on August 10.
This demotic event, one of the thriving Tibetan traditions, is celebrated in northern areas of the region annually, and grandly. Integrated with art, sports and trade activities, the festival has become the biggest gathering for local people.
On the first day, local herdsmen performed the "Singing in Changtang" singing and dancing show in festive costume to praise the well-off life and harvest of the year.
Other performances such as horsemanship, Gesar epic narration, northern Tibetan costume show and Gorchom circle dance are also presented, winning unceasing applause from the audience.
