A rural fair was held by the Daofu County in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China's Sichuan Province from Jan. 7 to 9. With more than 40 businesses participated, only on the first day, over 4,000 farmers and herdsmen paid a visit here.
Dengpi, a 74-year-old resident from Que'er Village, was excited. "I heard this is the first rural fair in the prefecture, so I came to have a look. You can find everything here. Before, I had to go to counties to buy things, now I don't have to, I can find them all here. Even if I didn't buy anything, it’s fun to have a look."
At the fair, agricultural products, toys, ethnic fashions, and a wide variety of communication products were available.
Xiaoma, a shop owner, said products such as corals and beeswaxes were especially popular on the plateau, for people's lives have improved so much that everyone wants finer things.
Free checkups are another feature of the fair. Plenty of people would choose to take a check for their blood pressure and blood sugar level, as people are paying more attention on their health.
