In order to strengthen ecological protection on grassland, the Chinese government has arranged for 18.76 billion Yuan (2.76 billion US dollars) of funds to support the implementation of grassland ecological protection subsidy and incentives policy in 2017.
The funds are mainly used for the implementation of grazing ban subsidies, grass-livestock balance rewards and performance evaluation rewards. Of these, the funds used to reward performance evaluation will be geared towards Tibet and the other four provinces with Tibetan-inhabited areas, in order to promote development of the local animal husbandry industry and grassland protection.
