A professional training class was opened in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet, to strengthen the talent cultivation in constructing the region's digital library on August 6.
Considering the current condition and development demand of the region's digital library, the training class focuses on advanced concepts, management methods and practical strategies in digital library construction.
The training class is part of the digital library promotion project launched by the nation's Ministries of Culture and Finance in May 2011, which intended to set up a digital library service system covering the whole society to provide the public with individualized, diversified and full-media service.
The project aims to connect the central national digital library and regional libraries of provincial, municipal and county levels so that digital library can maximize its role in promoting economic and social development, enhancing the educational and moral quality of all people and building a learning society.
As the partner assistance agency of Tibet's digital library construction, the National Library has presented the Tibet Library with rich digital resources, including over 5,000 electronic books, 200 electronic periodicals, 2,500-minute Tibetan videos, hundreds of lectures and professional data libraries in politics, economy and finance.
The training class will help cultivate professional talents in carrying out the promotion project in Tibet. Meanwhile, it will also boost the cultural transmission of Tibetan ethnic group and spread its cultural achievement nationwide and worldwide.
