BEIJING, Aug 5 (China Tibet Online) A 3-day international academic seminar on Tibetan Studies which aims at preserving culture and serving society, ended in China's capital city Beijing, August 4.
The 5th Beijing International Seminar on Tibetan Studies is co-sponsored by China Tibetology Research Center, China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture, and Academy of Social Sciences of Tibetan Autonomous Region.
A total number of 267 scholars from 21 countries and regions attended the seminar, and 238 scholars delivered paper abstracts to the organizer in different languages, hitting the record of previous four seminars.
The 5th seminar presented 13 plenary speeches and organized 11 panel discussions, some of which last all through the 3 days, such as the panel of "Religion" and "Sustainable Development & Livelihood Security".
The closing ceremony of the 5th Beijing International Seminar on Tibetan Studies was held in the China Tibetology Research Center (CTRC), in which Dramdul, deputy director-general of China Tibetology Research Center, delivered a summary speech.
This seminar witnessed the rising of a large group of young scholars who learn from the experienced ones and energize the seminar, said Dramdul.
The attendance of religious community, including the Tibetan Buddhists, Han Buddhists and laymen, made the cultural and academic exchange environment open and diverse, added Dramdul.
Beijing International Seminar on Tibetan Studies is a regular international academic conference held every 4 years, providing a platform for domestic and international tibetologists to share the academic achievement and exchange with each other.
