The torch relay of China's 8th National Paralympic Games is going on. A young athlete named Pei Liang from the county's Tibet Aotonomous Region participated in the relay on behalf of the Tibetan players.

In recent years, the sports development in Tibet has made great progress. Adhering to the idea of "put people first" and boosting people's interest and development, both the central and local governments has made efforts to develop physical culture and promote mass sports activities with the aim to build up people's physique.

With this goal, many sports festivals and activities are being held, such as the horse racing festival, the ethnic national festival, the Lhasa International Half-Marathon Contest, International Hiking Rally.

Besides, the Chinese government has also spent a lot in the sports infrastructure construction in Tibet. For example, the building of Tibet's largest mass culture and sports center, one of Beijing's key aid-Tibet projects, has been started at the end of this August.

It is also planned that by increasing public investment in sports and the related management system, the sports population of Tibet would reach 840,000 by the year 2020, about one third of the total population.
