Tibet allures tourists across the world with its long history and splendid culture. Among its various scenic spots, Tibet Museum is the top choice for numerous tourists during holidays, especially the National Day holiday.
"I would like to see what Tibet was in the past and what it is at present", Ms. Wang from Shanghai said excitedly. She was one of those who were interested in Tibet's history and thus came to get a deeper understanding about it in the Tibet Museum.
"I want my child to see a real Tibet more intuitively here", said Mrs. Liang from Deyang city of Sichuan province.
According to the staff of the museum, the Tibet Museum received over thousands of visitors and many tourist groups every day during the National Day holiday. As an important place for showcasing Tibet's history and culture, it is as important in tourists' agendas as the Potala Palace, the Jokhang Temple and the Norbulingka.
Located opposite to the Norbulingka (once the Dalai Lama's summer palace, now a public park) in the southeast of Lhasa, this modern museum was built and opened to public in 1999, totally funded by the Chinese Central Government.
Covering 53,959 square meters, the three-storey museum was designed in the traditional Tibetan architectural style and was opened to the public for free in 2009.
