Since the beginning of this year, farmers and herdsmen had been encouraged to develop ethnic handicrafts and run business by local governments at various levels in Tibet Autonomous Region.

With their increased income, the farmers' and herders' housing and living conditions have been much improved.

Tshe Sgron from Wuda Village in Gyangze, Shigatse is happy with the better life of her family. With the average annual net income of 40,000 yuan of her family, they built a new two-story Tibetan-style house, covering over 600 square meters.
