Wood carving, with its remarkable artistic value, has long been respected as a distinctive treasure of Phusum Township, southwest Lhasa's Nyemo County.
The Phusum wood-carving craftsmanship has been carried forward in recent years with the rapidly growing local economy.
Over 100 engravers and 500 more other workers have been engaged in engraving scripture blocks, Buddha wood carving and other tourism products.
This time-honored traditional craftsmanship has in this way helped increase income for local Tibetans.
