LHASA-A ceremony was held marking the completion of the two-year renovation project of the Johkang Temple on June 8, China Tibet Online reported.
The Johkang Temple has a history of over 1300 years. It was listed as the first batch of national key cultural relic protection units in 1961, and the extended project of the Potala Palace by UNESCO in 2000.
As one of the 22 cultural relic protection projects in the 11th Five-Year Plan, the renovaiton project kicked off in July, 2009 with a total investment of 18.17 million yuan.
