Built in the period of King Songtsan Gambo, the Trandruk Temple is located in the south of Gungbort Mountain, two kilometers away from Nedong County in Lhoka Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR).

As of the monasteries of Gelug Sect (or Yellow Sect), a branch of Tibetan Buddhism, the Trandruk Temple is also considered to be one of the first Buddhist temples built in Tibet during the Tubo Kingdom.

The most precious treasure in the temple is a huge pearl Thangka. Measuring 2-meter long and 1.2-meter wide, the Thangka was mounted with a total of 29,026 pearls, 15.5 gram gold, 1,997 corals, a diamond and some precious stones.
