China strives to develop Tibetan medicine

The "Decision on supporting development of medicine of Tibet Autonomous Region" was issued by State Administration of Chinese Medicine to boost traditional Tibetan medicine and improve medical system in Tibet Autonomous Region.

The nine key tasks mentioned in the "Decision" aim to establish a good service system of Tibetan medicine, to improve the servicecapacity, innovate the technology of Tibetan medicine, protect and make use of Tibetan medicine and intellectual property research, and strengthen the regulations and standardization of Tibetan medicine industry.

Pasang with TAR Administration of Tibetan medicine said,"The issued document will play an important role in protecting, passing down and developing  traditional Tibetan medicine."

As one of the pillar industries, the Tibetan medicine has a history of at least 2,000 years. It came into being under the influence of traditional Chinese, Indian and Arab medicines.

At present, Tibet owns 18 medical firms producing 360 kinds of traditional medicines through national GMP authentication. The Tibetan medical personnel are making their efforts to promote scientific and technological inheritance and innovation of the traditional Tibetan medicine.
