On the eve of Tibetan New Year, a annual grand Beating Ghost ceremony, an important Tibetan Buddhist ritual, was held at the Yonghegong Lama Temple in Bejing on Feb. 21.
This Buddhist ceremony is called "Buza Dancing", in which the word "buza" is translated to "beating of the devils" in English.
During the ritual, the lamas were covered with images of trumpet-shells, skulls, ox-heads, and deer acting on the stage, performing the process of catching and beating the devils.
Aimed at dispelling all evil spirits and praying for auspiciousness, "beating the devils" is still a mysterious religious ceremony, attracting people from all around the world, not only Buddhists.
