NW China's Qinghai hit by heavy snowfall, Golog worst affected

Northwest China's Qinghai province has also been hit by heavy snowfall. Golog prefecture is one of the worst affected areas, having seen the loss of thousands of livestock.

Many people have also suffered weather-related injuries but the good news is that help is on hand.

The loss of 2,400 heads of livestocks is a devastating blow. But even though You Yun village has just experienced such a loss, the locals don’t seem too upset. Local Tibetan Jo Daer has lost 31 cows. But he says he’s not worried about his family’s livelihood.

Jo Daer said, "The government has offered clothes, bedding, flour, and cattle feed. We have almost everything we need. I’m not worried about my family."

For those injured in the cold weather, free treatment is available. Medical teams have been visiting every family in You Yun village to take care of those in need.

Zheng Huanping, medical team dir. of You Yun Village, Qinghai, said, "We have carried out health checks and free treatment in Golog prefecture. Since the snow season is very long here, there are more people needing medical assistance. We’ll try our best to meet the demand.
