Lhasa, the "happiest" city will hold the traditional Tibetan New Year gala themed "Happiness".  Over one thousand staff would take part in the gala performance, which doubles the number of last year's gala.

Tibetan New Year is the most important festival for Tibetans, which will fall on Feb.22 this year. Since the beginning of December on the Tibetan calendar, people prepare to celebrate the New Year.

With the theme of "happiness", the Lhasa Television gala will focus more on the lives of talented grassroots people and provide a platform to show their talents, according to the organizer.

Up to now, over one thousand staff would take part in the gala performance, which doubles the number of last year. With a combination of Tibetan tradition and modern style, the gala will bring a visual feast to the audience.

Lhasa claims the "happiest" city title as it has been listed one of the "the happiest cities" in China during a nation-wide survey carried by China Central Television (CCTV) which took a look at Chinese consumption habits, investments, economic situation, and lifestyle under the heading "Touching the real China" in November 2011.
