Potteries, the most widely used life utensils among Tibetans, enrich the festival market in Lhasa as the Tibetan New Year is just around the corner.

Every market in Tibet has been bustling with people amid the festive atmosphere for special purchases even since a month ago before the Losar.

The potteries on market boast various types, each of which serves unique purpose.  Among the varied potteries, the most characteristic ones are made in Gyangze County of Shigatse Prefecture.

According to archaeology experts, pottery has a history of over 4,000 years.
