The first Tibetan Art Forum officially kicked off in Beijing on Thursday following the opening of the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Exhibition on the day before.
More than 40 prize winners of the "Beauty of Tibet" from Tibet and other areas of China and a number of renowned Chinese artists attended the forum, exchanging their experience on the artistic creation about Tibet as well as how to push forward the development of Tibetan art.
Chen Xiqing, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, met with the artists.
Wang Pijun, director of the organizing committee of the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Exhibition, pointed out that forum was a predominant art forum since the peaceful liberation of Tibet in 1951 and the first of its kind in Tibet's art history.
"The forum is of great historical significance in the protection and development of Tibetan art," Wang added.
The Tibetan Art Forum following the "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Contest will be organized in every two years, according to the organizing committee.
