Winter always comes earlier in the remote and higher Ngari prefecture, known as "roof on Roof of the World" in China's southwestern Tibet Autonomous Region.
In late October, the fierce wind outdoors could blow your hat off, just like a "horrible" saying which goes like "earth in November will be split and stone in December will be cracked as cold winter comes".
Basically, when October comes, people there would know that the long and frigid winter is around the corner, while the warm and plesant weather will not be back till the next May.
However, is the winter in Ngari really drab or dull? Partlly yes, but you can still find things that appeal to your luxuriant imagination of the highland, such as the pictures below taken by a colleague of mine during her trip northwards.
