Locating in the southeastern of Tibet, the Medog County of Nyingchi Prefecture covers a total area of 30,000 square kilometers with an average altitude of 1,000 meters.
Belonging to the river valley of the lower reaches of Yarlung Zangbo River, Medog is one of the holy land for Tibetan Buddhism.
For years, Medog has attracted more and more scientific researchers and hiking lovers with its well-preserved virgin forest and rare animals and plants as well as the characteristic ethnic customs.
Once called "island on the plateau", Medog County has been inaccessible by road. It will see greater changes, with the linkup of the Galongla Tunnel.
