A total of 3019 historical sites were newly found during the third Tibet survey of historical relics in 2007, according to Tibet Historical Relics Bureau, Tibet Daily reported.
During the 11th Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), Tibet found altogether 98 historical relics, according to Tenzin Namgyal, deputy director-general of the Bureau.
Of all the 4,000 historical relics, nearly 800 are units under special protection at various levels, including 35 state-level, 224 regional-level and 484 municipal or county-level sites.
