Shigatse Radio Station goes on air in SW Tibet

Shigatse Radio and Television Station has recently gone on the air with general broadcast in southwest Tibet, ending the history that Shigatse had no broadcast.

It started to broadcast at a time when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is about to mark its 90th anniversary and Tibet is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its peaceful liberation.

Radio programs will cover news, entertainment, and service information in bilingual language: Tibetan and Chinese.

Taking most of its advantage, the station will focus on programs about Shigatse's economic and social progress, programs with strong cultural characteristics of the Rear Region of Tibet, and programs with a strong modern and local flavor.

It's expected to enrich locals' cultural life and make contributions to the leap-forward development of Shigatse's economy and the long-term stability of the society.
