Winter has come into Tibet, thus it is the very first thing to make a stove fire after getting up. [Photo/China Tibet Online]
Karma Tashi, a man lives in the Dromba Village of Nyingchi Prefecture, east of Tibet has welcomed the first day of Gongbo(also called Kongpo) New Year with the whole family on the morning of Dec 3, 2013.
After making a stove fire in the sitting room, Karma Tashi's wife began to clean up inside and outside of the room. Grandma of the whole family was responsible for cooking breakfast. She baked the appetizing pancakes on the hot stove and children ate them with relish. Combination of pancakes and buttered tea is the most common breakfast for Tibetans.
Karma Tashi came back from Lhasa yesterday after he completed the work. As the leader of his timber transport team, he has begun to calculate the unpaid salary for the workers from early in the morning. There is an old Chinese saying that don't owe workers' salary in the new year, because everyone needs to purchase goods to prepare for the coming year.
