Born in Zhidoi County of Qinghai province's Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Suonandajie was known for his unremitting efforts in protecting wild animals in Hoh Xil where endangered Tibetan antelope have often fallen prey to illegal hunters. As a teacher and governmental official, Suonandajie went 12 times to the no-man area of Hoh Xil, advocating banning illegal hunting.
