Poland-China Tibetan Culture Week ends in Poland successfully

The 2012 Poland-China Tibetan Culture Week successfully concluded here on Sunday, after arousing strong repercussions in Poland.

The culture week, the first of its kind held in Poland, included an exhibition of more than 200 photos taken by Chinese and foreign photographers and 46 traditional Tibetan Thangka paintings, Tibetan folk songs and dance performances, in addition to a series of discussions and seminars between locals and Tibetologists.

These activities showed vivid scenes of Tibet's long and rich culture and unique customs, as well as Tibet's vigorous economic and social development and the people of all ethnic groups living and working in peace and contentment Tibet, a region in west China.

The exhibition provides various aspects to show Tibet's political, economic, cultural, social and religious situations today, the traditional Tibetan medicine, environmental protection and the local people's livelihood, etc.

A Polish photographic amateur, who went to Tibet a few years ago, said the pictures on display here make a beautiful heavenly feeling, but the real Tibet is more attractive with a natural beauty. He said that if possible, he will go to Tibet again.

People from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, France, the Netherlands, the Philippines, South Korea and Libya saw the exhibition and left comments.

"I am so lucky to be here and visit this exhibition. Before Poles never know that Tibet is such a mysterious and historical place, but today this Chinese exhibition shows us a lot."

"I visited Beijing, but did not go to Tibet. I really want to go to Tibet which is such a beautiful place."

"Very beautiful. Thangka in Poland's autumn is amazing."

"Thanks to that very impressive exhibition held in Poland. One day I' d like to visit Tibet to feel the fresh air and see the beautiful scenes."

"So attractive pictures, so attractive place, I dream of going there."

On the night of November 5, more than 2,000 people watched a Tibetan folk song and dance performance known as the Magic Tibet. Applauses and praises were endless. After the performance, most of the audience said the performance was very beautiful, amazing and electrifying.

The President of the Polish foreign residents's club, Jerzy Wojciewski, praised the Tibetan Song and Dance Troupe performances for enabling the audience to know the true art of Tibet, and to see the policy of the Chinese government on the protection of traditional Tibetan culture and heritage and development of Tibetan culture.

During the week, a series of discussions and seminars were held between local people and Tibetologists.

The Polish experts and scholars attending the activities said it was very much honored to participate in such events. They showed great interests and enthusiasm for cultural exchange between Polish universities and Tibet universities.

"Everywhere we went, cooperation and exchanges are the two key words we heard the most," said Lhakpa Tseten, a lead Tibetologist specializing in Tibetan cultural protection and preservation.

"We need cooperation and exchanges on a people-to-people level too ... in order to better promote mutual understandings," said Lhakpa, "That is why we have the China Tibetan Culture Week here... We want to show the Polish people a true Tibet."

The 2012 Poland-China Tibetan Culture Week opened on November 5 in Warsaw, Poland. It was co-sponsored by China's State Council Information Office, the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, the Chinese embassy in Poland and the Dom Polski association.
