BERLIN, July 25, 2012(China Tibet Online) - The "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Exhibition was opened in Berlin, Germany on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 25, 2012.
The exhibition depicted the marvelous scenery of Tibet, China and the life of local Tibetans today through paintings.
Li Nianping, attaché of Chinese Embassy in Germany delivered a speech, wishing the exhibition a great success.
Altogether 115 pieces of artwork were displayed by renowned Chinese artists focusing on social, economic, environmental protection, livelihood and religious themes, depicting the natural scenery and splendid culture as well as the beauty and harmony of Tibetan art, according to the organizer.
Lin Jun, chairman of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese, expressed thanks to the overseas Chinese in Germany and friends in various circles for their support for the exhibition. He also hoped that the exhibition can serve as an opportunity to play a more active role of the overseas Chinese in inheriting and promoting Tibetan culture, and push forward the development of cooperation in bilateral culture and friendship between the two countries.
He said, "the exhibition has not only set up a platform of mutual exchanges for professional and amateur artists between China and Germany, but also will play a positive role in promoting Tibetan culture, especially the Tibetan art."
Li Nianping said,"Many German friends have talked about 'Tibet issue' with me. They oppose "Tibet independence" , which is the same position with the federal government of Germany. But they know little about Tibet for lack of information about it. And the best way to reduce misunderstanding is to know better about each other." "The exhibition of Tibetan paintings, the first of its kind organized by Chinese embassy in Germany, is of pioneering significance, and will play an active role in promoting the understanding of the economic and social development, and people’s life in modern Tibetan for the German people and push forward the cultural cooperation between China and Germany,"said Li Nianping.
Lin Jun, head of the "Beauty of Tibet" Delegation, Chairman of Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese, Dr. Johannes Scheube, Director, State Department, Federation of Germany attended the opening ceremony.
Altogether 200 diplomats of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other officials in political, cultural, business and academic circles in Germany as well as members of the delegation presented at the exhibition.
The exhibition will last for a month and will be put on in Hamburg on July 27 for a week. The event was jointly organized by Chinese Federation of Overseas Chinese, China Tibet Online, Shanghai Federation of Overseas Chinese, the Chinese Embassy in Germany and the General Consulate in Hamburg, according to the organizer.
