Six travel routes recommended during Chinese New Year

Tibet's unique geological and geographical environment creates various beautiful sceneries in every season. There is no severe heat in summer, or bitter cold in winter. Thus, the weather of all year around is perfect for traveling. The most beautiful scenery, however, appears in winter, for only in this season can you enjoy the real Tibet.

Tibet's tourism pattern is scenic spots radiating from Lhasa to Shigatse, Lhoka, Nagqu, Ngari, Nyingchi and Chamdo, and six major travelling routes in Tibet are formed:

1. The first route is Lhasa-Shigatse-Lhatse-Zham, and it is the traditional golden traveling line.

Through this tour line, you will see Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, the brilliant golden top of Tashilhunpo Monastery, the new palace for Panchen Lama, the valley scenery at the convergence of the Yarlung Zangbo River and Nyang Qu River, the quaint murals, thangkas and sutra depositories like honeycombs at Sagya Monastery, and continuous snow-capped mountains, such as Mount Qomolangma and Mt. Xixabangba.
