More artistic works showing Tibetans' inner world needed

An awarded painting titled "Light on Highland" by Jin Yongxiang from Yunnan Province.

At the first Tibetan Art Forum held in Beijing on Oct. 27, Chinese painters from different nationalities called for artists in and outside Tibet to focus more on the spiritual world of Tibetan people while creating works concerned.

"Tibetan people’s piety of religion is the same as our attitude toward art, so we should respect their religion and try to reveal more about their inner world with our brushes,” said Deng Weibin, deputy secretary of Sichuan Fine Brushwork Painting Association.

Deng pointed out that since the peaceful liberation of Tibet, the region had undergone an amazing change in all aspects such as society and economy, so more artistic works are needed to tell the outsiders what is really happening there as well as the inner world of its people.

"We should hold a keen eye to discover the changes and progresses in Tibet and then show it to our audiences via artworks to help more people get a clear picture of Tibet,” Deng Weibin added.

Lou Zhongjun, a Han artist working in the Sichuan Ganzi Institute of Tibetan Painting, said:"Only when the audience could feel the 'Tibetan DNA' in art works can they be able to carry forward Tibetan culture and accepted by Tibetans.”
