Eating "Gutu" to try luck on Losar's Eve

On the Tibetan New Year's Eve, Tibetans would reunite with their families and enjoy "Gutu" together.

"Gutu" is a kind of dough drops, among which there would be one much larger than all the others, in which there are some very special contents such as hot peppers, wools or coins.

Tibetans would first drink up the soup together with their families and eat the largest dough drop later.

Different contents symbolize different meanings, for example wool stands for kindness and coin for good fortune in the coming New Year. Every one would spit out what they get from the dough and cause a laugh, which promotes the happy atmosphere of New Year.
