Nearly 500 monastery reading rooms facilitate monastic learning

Altogether 480 monastery reading rooms and 5,331 rurual libraried have been bulit by far, and more local Tibetans are accessible to various categories of both Tibetan and Mandarin reading materials, according to the leadership of Tibet's rural(monastery) library construction working team.

On Nov 29, a work conference on the region's rural(monastery) library construction was held. Outstanding work units and individuals were praised and awarded for their efforts.

On the conference, it is also reported that the central government and the regional finance have accumulatedly input a total of 106.62 million yuan to implement the rurual library construction program.

Each of the rurual library will be outfitted with at least 2,462 books (discs) of publications in as many as 844 types. Monastery reading rooms will each have at least 1,052 books (discs) of publications in 354 types.

The publications are widely scoped from the party's favorable policies and guidelines, laws and regulations, culture and education, science and techonology, etc.

The conference also specified on the regulation and management of the publicly beneficial libraries. Trainings related to the operation and information service in such libraries will be conducted.
