The Lamo Dechen Monastery locates in Chentsa County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, northwest China's Qinghai Province. It is the biggest temple of the Gelug Sect in the county known for having many branch temples, rinpoches, Tara statues made of pink gold and sandal wood, golden lamps and the stupas of all past-away rinpoches. Firstly built in 1682 during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), the temple experienced a big damage in 1958 and was restored in 1980 with three scripture halls and eight "Nangchens" (rinpoches' residence). It is now a cultural relic protection unit of the Qinghai Province.[Photo/Xinhua]
