On the opening day of the 2nd "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Contest Exhibition, Tibetan Buddhism monks visited the exhibition and gave high compliment on the "Beauty of Tibet", pointing out that the theme "harmony" is also what Buddhism pursues fundamentally.
"Social harmony, family harmony, and harmony between human and nature are the kind of 'China dream' advocated and pursued by religion," said Kelsang Rinpoche from the High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China in Beijing.
Tibet has been associated with strong religious atmosphere and Tibetan Buddhism has been a weighty religion in Tibet, which explains the prevalent vision of sutra streamers, Mani stones and stone tablets carved with the Tibetan six-syllable prayer word. That is also one of the themes of the painting works in this year's "Beauty of Tibet" Painting Contest.
"The quintessential part that Tibetan Buddhist canon prescribes is the harmony and peace of all 'sentiment beings' that includes environment and nature." Kelsang Rinpoche explained, adding that this canon was also the most benevolent and profound spirit of Tibetan Buddhism.
In this year's "Beauty of Tibet" painting works, Tibetan Buddhism elements continue to stand out as in the lamas wearing crimson robes, Tibetan people turning prayer wheels, and monasteries and sutra streamers on holy mountains.
Kelsang Rinpoche stressed that the paintings could reflect that Tibetan Buddhism was part of Tibetan people's life, which was the harmonious role religion should play in society wherever it prevails.
