Nestled near the Barkor Street, Canggusi Nunnery, the only nunery in the city of Lhasa, has reserved the rarely felt tranquility and mystique from the outside bustles and hustles.

Unlike other downtown monasteries where travellers and pilgrims flock in and out, Canggusi Nunnery receives fewer tourists but more local buddhists and pilgrims.

Built by a disciple of Mater Tsongkapa, the nunnery has been enjoying wide recognition and infulence across the highland region.
